Leaving in 10,9,8,7,…

The post below was written a few days ago, but not having an internet connection anymore makes it somehow difficult to post anything. (Reason for missing pics as well) Right now we are packing at Bekka’s place, actually we are ready to leave and that is why I am posting again.
So in a couple of hours we will sit in the plane watching Defiance, Twilight, Marley and Me, and some other stupid videos (yes, I checked them out before we fly). It’s gonna be fun!
Luckily, we even get a ride to the airport! A friend of Bekka just offered it yesterday! That will save us some 50 bucks on the cab!
How is the weather in Stuttgart, Germany? (I couldn’t check it, had no time as I was checking the movies)
Hope to see you all soon!

Blogging til the end...

I am done with school (Canada only), I sold my text books, spent the money I got for them already, and right now, I am sitting in the Coach Canada coach from St. Catharines to Toronto. Again it is a funny feeling to leave the City where I spent the last 8 months.
So I just hope to meet the nice people again somewhere, maybe I will even come back to this place someday. Still, my friends, it is time to come back to Germany. I will definitely miss some people from Canada, Tim Hortons and the way how school is organized over here.
But I am also looking forward to seeing my family and all my German friends again. Then I can also tell them what happened last weekend. You want to know it? Well, keep on reading! To sum it all up, Bekka and I are engaged now.

I just don't feel like writing anything

Sorry guys,
I just don't feel like writing anything...
I had a good time in Montreal last weekend. Slowly, everything is coming to an end over here. Yesterday I had my last class and I attended the Brock C4C end of the year banquet. Today I will be in Toronto and attend another banquet from C4C in York...

Anyway, I will be be back in Germany on April 25th, 11am.
Looking forward to see you all there!

nothing is happening at the moment

hmm, actually nothing is happening at the moment. So I will just tell you that I have a lot of exams and work, but I am still happy :-)
I started to cook more often, today I burned my fingers for the second time on that flippin oven rack.
I bought a Brock Business hoody(yes, it was on sale) and I realized that I will be back in Germany in six weeks.
There will be a birthday/ welcome party on the 2nd of May, I guess you are invited (this might not be true if I don't know you and you read this blog by accident! If you are confused now ask me or Bekka)

Florida, et cetera...

and someone wanted to throw away these awesome shoes!

Well, after having a great time in Quebec, where the temperatures were way below zero. I thought it is time for climate change! Fortunately, I do not have to wait until the weather changes, I just flew to Florida.
Unfortunately, I could not find my swimming trunks anymore but the beach was still amazing. I am not a poet enough to find many words, but be assured the time at the beach was relaxing and wonderful!
Together with Bekka and three other Torontian girls we went to the everglades and found some alligators. Pretty scary actually.

A little but of culture was included as well. Bekka and I visited the Florida Jewish Museum and the very impressive Holocaust memorial.

So now I am back in St. Catharines, busy for school again. Exams? Don’t want to bore you with them...
A, well, before I got back to St. Catharines, I tried to hitchhike from Buffalo Airport to Canada. Apparently, it is illegal in the Unites States of America to hitchhike. The police officer was kind of friendly but if I ever try to hitchhike again in the US I will be arrested…

Thanks for reading!
ps: I did not feel like writing that much, so enjoy the pics (or give me a call)

Financial Open and Studying

Well, after I was just amazed about dog sledding I just didn't feel like writing anything down. But life goes on! As I will fly to Miami tomorrow I guess there will be a lot to talk about. So I will give a short review of the last days.

With a team of BFIG (Brock Finance and Investment Group) I went to a finance competition in Quebec City last weekend. The Omnium Financier 2009 was a really good experience. It was my first competition and I guess our team came last(the results are not online yet, so maybe I am wrong). Anyway, it was awesome! Well organized, good hotel and pretty nice people. First time for me in Quebec as well. Now I know why Canada is bilingual!

In the mean time I am busy studying for all the midterms and assignments we have to hand in here. Additional, I got my dates for the oral exams back home in Germany which are scheduled before my actual return. So I hope this will work out anyway. And after reading week I might also start writing a paper for a German seminar in banking. So I will be busy, but as I already indicated, tomorrow I will be in Miami for a week of relaxation! Hopefully, I can see some alligator or crocodiles in the Everglades, as this funny Algonquin Park does not seem to have any animals in it, besides the dogs I mean:-)

dog sledding

Well I did not write much about the last few weeks as it was just a normal time of getting started in the new term and getting settled after an astonishing holiday in the US.
But now it gets curious!
I am just back from an awesome weekend. I guess it was one of the most enjoyable weekends I had so far. I was dog sledding! With the Brock Outdoors Club we drove up north to Algonquin Park and there we met up with Meg and Toby from Outward Bound.
10 humans and 37 dogs were on their way through a beautiful, snowy national park. Whoever knows me and therefore knows how much I love dogs and all those other funny animals would have loved to see me there. And yet, on this trip it was so nice to play with the dogs and care for them. It was really cool to see the enormous power that five, six or seven dogs develop to pull a sled with equipment and the “riders”, in one case Bekka and myself. Sure, uphill we had to run “behind” the sled, but on the flipside downhill were dedicated to the use of either the pad break or the massive break.
We could have slept in a heated tent. Actually it was a white canvas tent with an oven inside. The bottom was covered with straw (no, not in the oven area) and it was really comfy in there. However, I decided to sleep in the dog sled – which was just amazing!
On Sunday afternoon I had the chance to sled solo but as the dogs were tired it became even a little bit boring. Isn’t it the same with reading so many words at once? So stop reading and enjoy looking at the pictures.

Thank you…

...so much for your participation. The winner of the survey was obviously English. A result I did not expect, but I am pleased and will continue improving my English for yours and my sake. Even if it is impossible to know who reads my blog, I would like to know part of it. So please just leave a comment or send me a message if you think I should know you are reading my postings. Maybe that will encourage me to write more frequently.
Thanks again!
Ps: coming back to normal, the next post will be about my actual experiences in Canada.

back to school

Long time no hear!
I am back from an amazing holiday in the USA. After seeing a bunch of cities and National Parks we went to Justine and Jacob in Duluth and later to family Hall in Nisswa. We spend a nice, really white, Christmas there.
A week later, I forgot the date -haha, we celebrated New Year's Eve with friends in Duluth.
We took the bus back home and had a short stop in Chicago, unfortunately Bekka was kind of sick and the 20 something hour bus ride wasn't that healthy either.
Anyway, it was a great tour!

And as I said in the beginning, I am back to school! I already spent $460 on books for this term - awesome, or?
